Dean Ambrose retained the WWE Title at Battleground 2016 in Washington D.C. July 24, 2016. It was already the first ever Shield reunion Triple Threat for the WWE Championship, but the stakes were even higher. Yes, the winner walks out claiming they were the top dog of Shield, but a win at Battleground determined wether the WWE Championship would call home to RAW, or Smackdown Live.
Dean caught Roman Reigns in Dirty Deeds for the pin fall, but for Dean Ambrose this win did a lot more than solidify the title for SmackDown. This proves Dean Ambrose isn’t a temporary placeholder for the championship belt, deserves to be where he’s at and will will probably carry that title for a some time to come. Congrats, Dean and we look forward to seeing you on Blue Tuesdays
