Back in the day WWE use to use midget wrestlers all the time for matches. If you ever watch an old school Raw or pay per view like around the early days of the Attitude era there was quite a few midget matches. Did you know that in 1997 at Badd Blood there was a midget match to fill in for the Pillman-Dude Love match that never happened because Pillman had passed away earlier that morning.
Now lets fast forward to 2016. WWE has 2 spots on their roster filled by 2 guys who are not doing anything. Let’s be honest when was the last time Hornswoggle was used? I am sure the guys in the back love him, but they haven’t used him in forever and it makes no point having him. Back in the day Hornswoggle made sense with Finlay because Finlay is irish, and Hornswoggle is suppose to be a leprechaun. Now though he just sits around and collects a paycheck and takes up a roster spot from someone in NXT or someone from the Independents that is hoping to get signed.
Next Up we have El Torito. El Torito is suppose to be a bull and was the mascot of Los Matadores. The Matadores are suppose to be changing their gimmick and El Torito just doesnt make sense anymore. Can someone really take a guy in a bull outfit seriously? I know I cant, so now you have to figure out what your going to do with this guy. Here is another guy taking a roster spot.
The question becomes now what do you do with these two? That answer is easy, cut them both and bring up 2 people from NXT to fill their place. The roster is currently depleted with injury and I can guarantee there is 2 people down in NXT who are really for the main roster spot. By bringing up 2 people you can now then sign 2 people from the Independents.
What 2 people from NXT would you bring up? To be honest the WWE should decide that because there is a lot of good people down in NXT. I believe by releasing these 2 guys, the main roster will get better and NXT can continue to shine with free agent signings.
In the end unfortunately midget wrestling is not as popular as it use to be and its time to cut ties with some guys who are doing nothing and its time help build up your injury filled roster and its time for a change. In the end these guys have come up short and WWE needs to grow up.
